What to Expect...

My studio is located in my home, in a big, sunny, comfortable room with hardwood floors, art covering the walls, and plenty of space for stretching, Thai Yoga Massage, and workshops. Two beautiful white cats live in my home. Fresh linens are always used, so the massage table should be pretty free of cat hair, but they definitely spend a lot of time in the space. If you are allergic, or if you are unable to navigate stairs, let me know and we'll talk about options.

The first time you come into my studio, we'll talk about your current state of being. I will ask you to tell me about your physical health, pain levels, injuries, chronic health conditions, or surgeries. I'll encourage you to also share with me how you're life is going...your emotional health, your mental health, your relationships to work, family, friends, and community. All of this information helps us work together to create treatment goals. I will also ask you to agree to the nonsexual nature of my services - this protects us both.

While I do offer single-modality sessions on request (a Reiki-only session, a reflexology session, etc.), my preferred method of working is to plan the exact treatment methods and length of session, as well as the number of sessions, based on your treatment goals and my intuition. Any of the treatments listed at the right may be incorporated into a treatment plan. As always, you pay for the treatment you receive, not the amount of time it takes. This means I get to focus on you and your needs rather than the clock, and you get to focus on relaxing and wellness instead of worrying about how much you're spending. Please see my payment page for prices.

Some treatments are done fully clothed, while for some you will need to remove some or all of your clothing, depending on your comfort level. You’ll be given privacy for this, and your modesty will always be respected. You will lie on a comfortably padded table or floor mat, and you'll be covered with a sheet and a light blanket if you have removed your clothing. Soothing music help to facilitate relaxation, as does aromatherapy, if used. If you have music that you'd prefer to bring, please do, as long as it's free of skips and scratches...those are not relaxing! It will work best if it is between 60-70 beats per minute - just slower than the average resting heart rate, to help you relax.

During your session, you may experience a deep meditative state of mind. Depending on the nature of your treatment, I may ask you for feedback - and your feedback is always
welcomed. The more you participate in your session, the more we both get out of it. However, sleeping or meditating through a treatment is absolutely natural and okay, and allows you to enter a restorative mode. Once the session is complete, you will be invited to take as much time as you need to absorb and integrate the work before beginning to sit up. It is common to experience a deep sense of peace and relaxation following a treatment. If you can, I recommend taking an hour or more of free time following your appointment to allow for full receipt of the benefits and a gradual reentry into the world. (Of course, I know this isn’t always possible!) Eating a healthy meal, drinking plenty of water, taking a leisurely walk, or sitting quietly are activities which often serve as a good transition to resuming whatever is planned for the rest of the day.
